Assistant Controller


Under limited supervision, directs and maintains the financial records of the Company by performing the following duties.


  • Assists the Corporate Controller in recommending and implementing major economic objectives and policies for the Company.
  • Responsible for internal financial reporting and analysis.  Includes summarizing the Company’s business activity through the use of Prophix and providing both standard monthly and ad hoc reporting.
  • Coordinates external audits and tax compliance filings for all of the Company’s employee benefit plans.
  • Responsible for the reconciliation and review of all accounts within the general ledger.
  • Assists the Corporate Controller in the annual budgeting process. 
  • Maintains Financial Integrations within the ERP system and performs monthly and annual maintenance of the general ledger.
  • Manages and provides oversight of Accounts Payable and General Ledger Accountant.
  • Work with the Information Technology group to maintain and further improve financial reporting systems.
  • Assists with special projects in finance and operations areas.
  • Work closely with sales and operations in analyzing customer and product line profitability measures.
  • Develops accounting procedures and assembles them into a departmental procedures manual.
  • Maintain and develop internal control structure.
  • Ensure that subordinate personnel adhere to company policies and procedures in addition to applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Supervise staff including interview, selection and hiring process, employee communications, performance review process and employee disciplinary process (in coordination with the human resources).
  • Comply with state and federal law safety regulations in addition to Oberg safety and security procedures. 
  • Adhere to company policies and state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment, including promoting a workplace free of discrimination and harassment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time and occasionally travel within and between departments and divisions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will sporadically have to move through the manufacturing departments and divisions.  Typically, the atmosphere is a climatic office setting and the employee will spend the majority of his/her time sitting at a computer terminal.  The employee is required to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Must be able to understand and apply work-related documents such as operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to understand and perform to job-related quality standards and methods.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
  • Must be extremely proficient in working with spreadsheets, particularly Microsoft Excel.  
  • Must possess excellent analytical abilities.
  • Must be able to organize work and prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
  • Must be able to understand written correspondence.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations. 
  • Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week, however, schedule may be adjusted according to business and operational needs.


  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a corporate accounting setting or public accounting, preferred manufacturing background.
  • 3 to 5 years of prior supervisory experience required.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with ERP systems.
